About Us
Aufgabe des Instituts ist die Förderung der interdisziplinären Lehre und Forschung auf den Gebieten der Rechts- und Wirtschaftswissenschaften. Der Arbeitsschwerpunkt des Instituts liegt auf der Förderung der ökonomischen Analyse des Zivilrechts. Geschäftsführender Direktor des Instituts ist Prof. Dr. rer. pol. Thomas Eger.
An der Universität Hamburg führt das Institut den Schwerpunktbereich der Juristenausbildung Ökonomische Analyse des Rechts. Im Rahmen der Postgraduiertenausbildung leitet das Institut das Studienprogramm European Master in Law and Economics (Erasmus Mundus gefördert). Die Doktorandenausbildung unterstützt das Institut in Hamburg mit der Betreuung des Graduiertenkollegs Recht und Ökonomik und als Partnerinstitut im Doktorandenprogramm European Doctorate in Law and Economics.

The main task of the institute is the promotion of interdisciplinary teaching and research in the field of Law and Economics with a special focus on the economic analysis of civil law. Managing director is Prof. Dr. rer. pol Thomas Eger.
The Institute leads, as part of the legal education, the area of specialization "Economic Analysis of Law" and administers the postgraduate program "European Master in Law and Economics" as well as the "Graduate College for Law and Economics". In addition, the Institute for Law and Economics participates in the international doctoral program "European Doctorate in Law and Economics".
